For the fixing arrangement supplied with your unit. If your post, spacers or fittings differ, send us a photograph for advice before installation.

Choose the location

Choose a location with high footfall or where people are likely to congregate. Position the Gumstick at an appropriate height for use; use a lower position where it is intended for children.

Wall mounting

  1. Use the Gumstick as a template. Mark four fixing positions at the centres of the vertical slots on the flat faces of the rear support, marking through from the front. Check that the unit is vertical.
  2. Wear appropriate eye protection when drilling. Drill the marked positions for wall plugs suitable for the mounting surface.
  3. Insert the wall plugs and screw the unit to the wall using the four screws and washers supplied, where suitable for the surface.

Post mounting

  1. Feed the mounting straps through the slots in the angled and flat faces of the rear support, then around the post.
  2. Feed each strap tail through its retaining bar and tighten onto the post. Check the orientation and height as you secure the unit.
  3. The strap supplied by Smartstreets uses a special tool for its tightening adjuster as an anti-theft feature. Use the correct supplied tool with a battery-powered drill or screwdriver.

Insert replacement graphic sheets

  1. Unscrew the top-cover fastener and hinge the cover up.
  2. Slide a new sheet into the unit from the top, between the curved sides, until it is about halfway down. Bow the sheet gently outwards to allow it to pass the locating pegs.
  3. Bend the bottom of the sheet upwards along its crease to approximately 90 degrees. Continue sliding the sheet down until it reaches the bottom, then push it onto the locating pegs.
  4. Close the top cover over the top of the sheet and secure the fastener. Push the sheet towards the back of the unit.
  5. The original instructions allow up to three sheets in the unit.

Remove used sheets

  1. Unscrew the top-cover fastener and hinge the cover up.
  2. Hold the top tabs and pull the sheet forwards off the locating pegs.
  3. Slide the sheet out upwards, taking care not to drop loose gum. Dispose of the used sheet and gum considerately, then fit a fresh sheet.

Cleaning

Wipe the unit regularly with a non-abrasive cleaner. The original instructions also recommend an occasional spray and wipe with WD-40.
